1.   Where are you doing your mentorship? 

I am doing my mentorship hours at a Security company, known as SPP(sector private patrol) security at A hotel property, which is Hilltop inn. with my supervisor and other employers. 

2.   Who is your contact?

My supervisor and any other employees I happen to be on the field with.

3.   How many total hours have you done (total hours should be reflected in your mentorship log located on the right hand side of your blog like your WB)?

I have done a total of  46 hours, every month out of the week I go 2 days for eight hours. I am being taught on the field with my supervisor. He goes over everything that must be done in a hotel properly, Plus any other of the employees I meet for security have told me first hand of what to do for security. The 46 hours does not include my 10 hours I did for summer.

4.   Summarize the 10 hours of service you did. 

The 10 hours I had did over winter break was interesting. 

I was with my supervisor on New Year's eve and Christmas eve. This was on my decision to experience how security was done on the holidays. And, during the holidays security is enforced especially on New Year's Eve. I had kept close watch out for any suspicious activities going on in the hotel property. Fortunately for me, my supervisor and the other security guards nothing major it happen that day. however, I was constantly on my toes. Suspicious activity I was looking for was anybody under the influence or anybody that was having a party in the room. If at all I had seen any of these activities take place I was to report it immediately to my supervisor. In the event if there was a party room on that day, me and my supervisor would asked for the gas quietly to keep it down and give them a warning for any gifts that need to go to sleep. 

Holiday Project Update

1.  It is important to consistently work on your senior project, whether it is break or we are in school.  What did you do over the break with your senior project?

For the break I had sent The majority of my time working on my mentor ship service hours with my mentor. I saw my mentor three times of the week for eight hours. we had worked upon the study of security and discipline. 

2.  What was the most important thing you learned from what you did, and why?  What was the source of what you learned?

In my opinion One of the important ways of security I had learned was how it is structured during the holidays. For example, for New Year's eve there was and extra security officer had worked with, to look out for any suspicious activities. Suspicious activities include the following; party rooms, people under the influence, disputed fights, unappropriate behavior and anything that would follow in law enforcement standards. Fortunately I did not deal with anything major. However what I learned was that enforcement of security is needed around some holidays days. The reasoning I say some, is because Christmas eve and Christmas day nothing major happened. It is more than likely it is because during that specific holiday people are out with their families. 

3.  If you were going to do a 10 question interview on questions related to answers for your EQ, who would you talk to and why? 

I think above all else the people I can most go to is the people I co-work with. The employers of the hotel would know more how structure is brought to security. If not that my security supervisor is a great source to go to. My Security Supervisor is the head of The security company. He is the one that sends reports and reads them for the owners of who he works for. He would be a great source to go with you to know great informational value of his past experience or any experience at all.

Once a topic is chosen, the student will develop a working essential question.  The purpose of the working essential question is to help the student build a strong foundation of research which will allow him or her to create an essential question that encourages depth and rigor in the chosen topic.  An essential question must:

 a.  What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss? This would not be acceptable for the question. This is a question for this matter is unfortunately too broad. Perhaps at the essential question explains how weight loss is factored out or lost, perhaps you can be considered a question.

 b.  What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation? This essential question provides many, provides many questions for the viewer to ask. The essential question asks of what structure is brought to criminal justice. This can be improved upon describing on what is criminal justice

 c.  What is most important in creating a hairstyle that best satisfies a customer? The organization and focus seems a little out of order. This could potentially bring a to question answer pro then one of the central question answer. The focus has to be on either the hairstyle or the customer, not both.

 d.  How can an anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain? This is by no means a good example of a good question. It leaves a presenter seeming like he's asking the question of another question. I would not recommend using this as an essential question.

3.  Based on your review of the rule of 3 and your experience with assessing four EQs, please write another draft EQ for your senior project.  The senior team will be meeting with students shortly for EQ revision and approval; you are expected to bring your research notebook to that meeting with your EQ draft written inside in pencil.

Blog 9: Lesson 1 Reflection security

1. Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your Lesson 1 Presentation and why?

Security is the closest thing to law enforcement, which is a career path I want to pursue. My lesson about security felt could've been a bit better. I think I was too busy stressing about The presentation and not my interaction with the class. Possible I was disoragzied with my topic being so eager to talk about it, but at the same time stressed. 

2. Questions to Consider

       a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 1 Presentation (self-assessment)?

       b.     Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 1 component contract.

There were a lot of mistakes that could've been fixed. I felt could have interacted with the class a bit more. Maybe be a bit more organized and comedown on my stress level.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 1?

I like that show the class my materials that I use at work. I thought I got most of the students attention when I had my phone in my utility belt. 

4.  (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1? Better prepared for the presentation, maybe practice with my family instead of being alone. But, at the end of the day I had fun!  

Blog 8: Research and Working EQ Security

1.  What is your working EQ?

My working EQ in which I am doing will be based on security/law-enforcement.

2.  What is a possible answer to your working EQ? 

"What is the best to secure a cohesive environment?"

Security must meet qualitative standards to keep the peace as a unity.

3.  What is the most important source you have used that has helped you come up with an answer to your working EQ?

 I had forced my EQ on mainly my mentor ship that I had done over the summer and doing now. This had motivate me to take into the specific standard that were needed to require me to be a security guard. Seeing how everyone works as a team and together brought that source of unity. Being a qualitative security guard meaning that you're working at your high standard and you do not lose lack of focus, "Pay attention to detail".

4.  Who is your mentor, or where are you doing mentorship, and how does what you are doing relate to your working EQ?  

My mentor is Marvin he had taught me specific standards of being a few disciplinary methods of being a security guard. My mentorship hours will be committed to a small Hotel with being with different types of various people mean me in the future. My main focus will be securing the property and ensure peace and stability is brought to this hotel. 

Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval

1. Describe what you plan to do for your 30 hours
My plan for my 30 hours that I will be seeing my mentor again. I expect my mentor will have me do more active work without him, as a security guard. I will learn what it means to be a certified security guard.

2. Describe how or what you will do to meet expectations of showing evidence of 30 hours.
I will meet with my mentor, and set up with him a schedule in which I will be able to complete these hours. My plan is to see my mentor for eight hours a day for two days, out of the week. Within three weeks time I should be able to complete all my hours.

3. And explain how or what you will be doing to help explore your topic into depth
I will be learning the different ways of how security is done. By doing this, I am able to grasp every opportunity I have with my mentor. I will not have my mentor with me during my security experience. Even though I may not have my mentor by my side I able still able to keep contact with him. Security will bring me discipline and at the sometime unity.

September Blog- Security Research and Minor Reports

     While interviewing my mentor again, he talked about about his personal aspects of his life. You can find more details on my mentor on my interview blog from 10/29.  While I was with my mentor he taught me a few more things about security and that there was more than just one type of security. For example there is military security, CIA security and federal security. This had me go into more depth in my research articles. When I found out about this item I immediately started looking into articles regarding military, federal security and CIA security. To find more of my research on security please look into my notebook on my senior topic, Security.

     During the time I was with my mentor he taught me how to do reports. My mentor taught me that my reports are meant to go to the company that we work for, and I was to be very specific. My mentor had taught me I would need to go into depth of everything that happens during my patrol on security. For example one of the things that occurred was; there had been a homeless man on the property that digs through the dumpster, I immediately contacted my mentor. My mentor informed me he would be there within five minutes. I kept watch over the homeless man. The homeless man was still in the trash, when my mentor got there and then we escorted him off property. At that time I was told to keep watch in case he did return, he didn't return.

     In conclusion I will be continuing my research on security and communicating with my mentor.
